Catching the time: City clocks On November 17th 1924, the Zagreb City Government approved the instalment of the first public electrically powered clocks at the five most frequent spots in the city. Each clock was equipped with a built in battery made by an Austrian company Schauer. At first, the clocks were not working properly. Showing incorrect time, they were amusing the local folk, suspicious about new inventions. Eventually, the technological progress made them synchronize their watches with the public ones. show next
