Arrival to Zagreb

Zagreb, as a major European traffic junction, is well connected by roads, air, rail and bus lines with many European cities and tourist destinations in Croatia.

Arrival by air

Zagreb's airport is 17 kilometres or some 25 minute drive from the city centre.

Bus lines from Zagreb to the airport (and vice-versa) depart from the main Bus station in Zagreb, Drziceva Avenue.

Single fare is 30 kunas. Buses depart daily, every 30 minutes starting from 5:30 am until 8:00 pm. The timetable is available on www.plesoprijevoz.hr.

Arrival by rail

The main railway station is situated in the city centre, Trg kralja Tomislava 12. An easy 10 minute walk or trams no. 6 or 13 will take you to the main square, Trg bana Jelacica.

Arrival by bus

The main bus station is situated in Marin Drzic Avenue nn, which is not far from the Main railway station. It is a couple of minutes away by tram no. 6 from the main square Trg bana Jelacica.

Arrival by car

The major international roads are:

  • Nürnberg – Graz – Maribor – Macelj – Krapina – Zagreb: highway A2 is part of the Phyrin highway network and its European road designation is E – 59.
  • Trst – Ljubljana – Bregana – Zagreb and Klagenfurt – Ljubljana – Bregana – Zagreb: highway A 3 is part of E-70 road network. It continues towards Slavonski Brod and Lipovac border crossing.
  • Budapest – Gorican – Varazdin – Zagreb: highway A 4 is part of E – 65 and E – 71 road networks that continue towards the Adriatic Sea: highway A1 Zagreb – Split – Dubrovnik and highway A6 Zagreb – Rijeka.

Public transportation

Three choices of public transportation are available – trams, buses and city rail. Timetables for each listed are as dense as couple of minutes during the day and an hour or 30 minutes during the night.

Travel tickets can be bought at every news-stand (for 8 kunas) or inside the vehicle (for10 kunas). Also available are one-day travel tickets, at the price of 25 kunas. It is necessary to stamp the ticket when on the vehicle.
